Our team of presenters will cover the fiscal, economic and political dynamics affecting the 2018-19 Budget Act and also how the politics of an election year will affect debate over education funding next year. We will also discuss the multi-year outlook for schools in California. Some of the issues we will discuss include:
- The economy and Prop 98
- What is next for LCFF funding
- Outlook for continued one-time funding
- STRS/PERS costs
- Impact of Janus on California public education unions
- Special education
- County offices of education
- Teacher shortage
- Early learning
- School facilities
The workshop and materials are provided at no-cost to attendees thanks to our partnership with county offices of education and sponsorship by Climatec. Given the relatively short window between our May Revision workshops and this Budget Act workshop, we intend to focus only on the most critical parts of the final budget deal and significant changes from the May proposals. Therefore, similar to the last two years, we will complete the presentation in less than an hour and a half.
